THE SHAMROCK

It's the symbol of a peoples pride,
And of a nation, glorious and grand.
It was the weapon that St. Patrick plied
To drive out the snakes from Ireland.

It's bright and green, so like the Irish hills,
And its leaflets round are only three.
But St. Patrick blessed this humble plant,
And with it, to Erin, brought Christianity.

It's the Land of Leprechauns, The Blarney Stone,
And pots of gold at Rainbow's End.
They sing of happy hearts and smiling eyes,
And know there's none so true as an Irish friend.

The Irish live today throughout the world.
But, for some, their hearts will ever be…
In that bit of heaven called the Emerald Isle,
That lies so far across the Irish Sea.

And The Shamrock, will, for all eternity,
Be their Badge of Honor, Faith and Loyalty.
