REMEMBER THE DAY Remember the day - so many years ago- Our forefathers yearned with fervor to be free. Would it forever be just an empty dream? Would they ever taste the fruits of Liberty? Remember the day - in Lexington- That April day when the war began. The revolution that lasted for six long years, But secured our freedom and the rights of man. Remember the day - when they pledged their lives- To rid themselves of the Imperial bond. The Declaration was made and was duly signed; Independence was born when that day dawned. Remember the day - July the Fourth- And remember those who have given their lives, In defense of that which we hold so dear, Our Freedom that, thankfully, still survives. |
