ARE YOU READY?

New Year’s Eve is just around the bend.
The whole world awaits that fateful night.
So many have prophecied both gloom and doom.
When the clock strikes twelve will we be allright?

Will the lights go out?, will we still have heat?
Have you squirreled away enough to eat and drink?
Did you go to the bank to withdraw some cash?
What happens if the TV goes on the blink?

Airline reservations are at an all-time low,
Who wants to be that high, up in the sky,
30,000 feet  without a parachute.
What if that airplane forgets to fly?

We have allowed  The Computer to rule our lives.
And the new Millenium will be here soon. 
Now the time has come when we’re not quite sure
If that monster we created will be our ruin.

When midnite strikes in old Times Square,
The Year 2000 will greet us all.
Dick Clark will render a Champagne Toast,
While our eyes look up at that falling ball.

And as for what might happen to you and me, 
Should we really care what those experts say?
Let’s do everything that we think is right,
And we’ll be surely ready for Y2K.
