CROSSROADS

As we walk down life’s uncertain path,
We encounter deviations and impediments.
And each barrier, each detour, each obstacle,
Will, in our lives, make quite a difference.

How many times have we reached that point,
When a decision must be made?
Shall we go left or right, East or West?
Will things work out when our plans are laid?

How many times in years gone by,
Hasthe wrong turn brought us grief or woe?
If we had only gone the other way...
Would life be better, worse, or just...so-so

And yet, in retrospect, we did survive.
The cards were dealt, we faced the test.
With no regrets, with heads held high,
We know full well that we did our best.

For as long as we exist upon this Earth,
We will find crossroads on life’s dusky trail.
And the fork we take helps to shape our destiny,
But we cannot blame fate if we fall short and fail.
