A DIFFERENT YEAR?

Another year is starting out;
Will it be the same as the ones before?
Will we do the things we’ve always done?
How can we enjoy this one, perhaps, much more?

Give thanks each time you see the morning sun,
For each day is a gift from heaven above
And another  thing you must not forget:
Say those magic words to the one you love.

Take your walks through life on the sunny side,
In all of your ventures, try to go the extra mile;
And if the sun should hide behind a gloomy cloud,
You can brighten your day with a happy smile.

Greet everyone you meet with a fond “Hello!”;
Your friends and loved ones with a warm embrace.
People might remember a cheerful grin,
But they never forget a grouchy face.

Yes, this can really be a different year....
Make resolutions to your heart’s desire;
But the difference will be what others think and do
As they see what your words and your deeds inspire.
